The certification differs from an educational designation or state license in that it is based upon requirements that have been determined by extensive job analyses of actual practitioners in the field, and therefore, continue to evolve with the profession. The CFP® certification prepares the financial services professional for a career-long commitment to meeting the ever-changing financial needs of clients.

Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) certification is for professionals who integrate a complex body of investment knowledge to provide objective advice and guidance to individual and institutional investors. Since April 2011, the CIMA certification has been recognized as the only financial services credential in the U.S. to have met an international standard for personnel certification (ISO 17024) and earned accreditation by American National Standards Institute.
